Why Fast Weight Loss Never Lasts

bigpantsEverybody wants to lose weight fast, who doesn’t? The diet industry knows this, which is why most of the diets focus on delivering fast results. Well, how is that working so far? If you look at the statistics, not that well. Although most people do lose weight fast with most diets, over 95% of them regain all the weight back. So my question is what is the point of losing weight fast if you are going to gain it back again?

Here is the problem with losing weight fast. In order to lose weight fast, you must make big changes in your life all at once. The fact is that the more changes you make in your life at once the more uncomfortable you get, the more uncomfortable you get the faster you burn out and revert back to your old habits thus gaining the weight back.

The mistake many people and even many fitness professionals make is that they wrongly believe that once people see results they would be motivated to keep going. Well if that was true then how come most people who lose weight gain it back? They did get the results they wanted after all, and yet they still revert back to their old habits and gained the weight back.

The fact is that the best results in the world would not keep you motivated if the results were achieved through a method that overwhelmed you. This is the case with most diets. Although they get people the results they want, they are overwhelming and sooner or later people quit and revert back to their old habits.

So what is the answer? How can people lose weight and keep it off? The answer is very simple. First of all you need to realize that weight gain is a symptom not the problem, the problem is your habits. Your habits got you in the shape you are in today and if you are not happy with your current shape you must change the habits that got you here.

Whatever change you make has to become habitual before making another change. Make enough changes in your habits and the weight will come off. Yes, with this method it will take you a little longer to start seeing weight loss, but at least once you lose the weight you would never have to worry about your weight again.

Only through permanent changes in your eating and activity habits you can lose weight and keep it off. Unfortunately the way most diets approach weight loss it is almost impossible to develop new habits and that is one of the biggest reasons why, in spite the 78,000 diet books on the market today we are still losing the weight loss battle.
