Welcome to the category of my blog simply called ‘Healthy Tips.’ Many times, when I write articles for various publications, I need to find sources for the story as seen in Yahoo Shine (click here) or PBS (click here) about staying healthy. I was looking for experts and non-experts to chime in and give their favorite ‘tips’ to help kids and adults lead a healthy lifestyle.
The feedback for various stories was amazing. The sources had some fantastic points of view that could not be ignored, and I thought their opinions should be viewed on the Your Health Journal web site.
So, enjoy my new series, with some ‘great’ insight from some ‘great’ people giving exceptional and educational points of view.

“One of the best things you can do to get on the right track toward a healthier lifestyle is to adopt small changes slowly. For most people, if they take an “all or nothing” approach to getting healthy, it can often lead to being overwhelmed and a lot of guilt if there are slip-ups. Instead of the 180 degree change, make smaller changes over time. For example, for the sweet-tooths out there, instead of saying “no more dessert,” perhaps you drop down to having dessert twice per week instead of five times per week. After a couple of weeks adopting that change, add another one. Instead of 4 teaspoons of sugar in your coffee, try two. Commit to that for a couple weeks and then add another small change. Over time, all these small changes add up quickly and you’re suddenly living a much healthier lifestyle AND it’s something you can stick with.”
