The Role Model In You
Today’s Guest – Tanya Kormeili, M.D.

1. Your name, title, and age? What do you do (or did you do) for a living?

Tanya Kormeili M.D., Board Certified dermatologist in private practice and clinical professor at UCLA

2. Who was the person that inspired you as a child to eat healthy and stay fit? What was their relationship to you?

My mother was my inspiration. She listened to hours of radio shows about good nutrition and healthy cooking. She signed me up for ballet and gymnastics when I was a little girl to inspire movement and health. She taught me that food can heal and poison you, and it is my choice which foods I consume.

3. What did they do to inspire you?

My mom is not a doctor! However, she knows so much about health! Her mother was a herbalist and midwife and had instilled in her the passion for health and helping others. She inspired me by her commitment to cook healthy food and keep junk out of our home!

4. How did their lesson change your life?

She set the bar really high! I still only bring healthy foods to my home! I do not drink soda, very little to no red meat, value fruits and veggies and avoid fast food! I have managed to keep a healthy body through intense medical tranining and many stressful events in my life.

5. Do you convey their message to kids in your life presently?

I feel that the kids that are my patients really value what I have to say because they respect doctors! I try to encourage them to be healthy not just in their skin habits but in their overall health.

6. What would be your main message to children today to lead healthy lifestyles?

You have this one body! If you don’t take care of it you will be ill and prevent you from doing all the cool things you want to do.

7. Do you have a web site you would like to promote….web address only?
