The Role Model In You
Today’s Guest – Jeff Archibald

1. Your name, title, and age? What do you do (or did you do) for a living?

Jeff Archibald, Fitness Trainer, 42.

2. Who was the person that inspired you as a child to eat healthy and stay fit? What was their relationship to you?

My stepfather was big influence on my diet. He was always making ghuge salads chock full of broccoli, tomatoes, etc. My dad has always been overweight, he was a bit of a reverse role model. Yet, dad was the one who exrcised more… ironic. My wrestling coaches were probably the biggest influences for being super strict with diet and highly motivated to be lean and strong.

3. What did they do to inspire you?

Most everyone in my family became obese as I went through high school/college. My wrestling coaches and teammates were the biggest influencers with their unyielding commitments. I have lived a healthy lifestyle in rebellion to most of my families values. My coaches were lean, middle aged and highly energetic. I knew then that it is lifestyle that yields energy and happiness.

4. How did their lesson change your life?

I learned to stay active and eat healthy in order not to be like my family. Being active is way more important than being rich (unless you become rich to be free from work/active). I was probably supposed to be a doctor. Had never met any I wanted to be like when i got older.

5. Do you convey their message to kids in your life presently?

No kids in my life today, I am surrounded by adults (many with ADHD though).

6. What would be your main message to children today to lead healthy lifestyles?

You don’t have to become your family. It is a great challenge to socially ostracize yourself at a young age. If your parents are health oriented, listen to them; they know. There is no other alternative to healthy living. Get your friends to be active with you or make new friends.

7. Do you have a web site you would like to promote….web address only?

BOLDFITNESS.com
