Since most gyms/trainers are “local” in nature, they need to make sure that they are optimized for local searches. Google takes into account the searcher’s location automatically, so you don’t need to optimize for “Professional trainer in [enter city here]” in your content. However, you need to do the following:
1) Include your local contact information on every page (combination of header and/or footer) – Company name, Address, and phone number
2) Register your business in Google Places for Business
3) Create a Google+ profile for your business (it is linked to automatically from Google Local searches so you should have it optimized to educate and get them to call/email you – for example include offers here)
Bonus tip – you did not ask for this, but it is critical to add this to your series – Web Analytics. Make sure that you have Google Analytics installed in your website and that the code is setup properly to track visits and keywords. You can’t improve what you don’t measure, so this is essential to see your progress in SEO and Social.
