Life Lessons From Adults To Children
Today’s Guest – Jodi Pliszka

If I only knew back then that the tragedy that I would endure would help mold me into the person I am today and help me create an empire of helping people with the same issues, I could helped a lot more people sooner! I was always an active young person striving to be my best. I had the world by its tail until my 20th birthday that would change my life forever. Within one month, I lost all of the hair over my entire body to a rare disorder called alopecia universalis. I thought my once perfect world was not perfect anymore and I fell prey to an abusive relationship. I thought losing my hair was devastating, until a few years later when I learned that GOD can take the weight of the world off our shoulders.

It is a way of having HOPE and giving up all your anger to a higher power and learning to live again. No matter who your GOD is, you have the choice to live your life or exist. I learned that the more I spoke out about losing my hair, the more people I would help. This prompted me to go back to school to obtain my Master’s degree and do PhD work in Psychology. The more education I would have, the more tools I would possess to better help others that needed me most. I learned that in life, God opens doors for us and we just need to walk through them and have the courage to live again. I have four hairless Sphynx cats, became an award winning author, writing books from kids about differences. I was a top finalist on ABC’s AMERICAN INVENTOR TV show, inventing a product that is currently the number one seller for wigs, hard hats, bump caps and headwear items called Headline It! No Sweat liners. I was featured on Lifetime TV’s Health Corner doing my story on alopecia, and travel around the country as a key note speaker, teaching kids how to Create ABC’s; Anti Bullying Coaches.

We can help people to not bully others and try to make life a better place. I host Ripley’s Believe It Or Not radios, Weird Medical Maladies, because I have one myself. I give an education about differences to help reduce prejudices. I work with the Cancer Societies and help run support groups with alopecia, as well. If I only knew back then that losing my hair would help me find WHO I AM! GOD gave me a shiny bald head, an education and a voice to make a difference in this world.
