Today’s Guest – Mariana Abeid-McDougall

1. Your name, title, and age? What do you do (or did you do) for a living?

Mariana Abeid-McDougall, BEd, BPHE, BA, CPT, Professional Member, Ontario Kinesiology Association. I am 30 years old. I am a Kinesiologist and Personal Trainer and teach exercise to people ranging in age from 2 to 90 years old.

2. Who was the person that inspired you as a child or adult to eat healthy and stay fit? What was their relationship to you?

My grandmother.

3. What did they do to inspire you?

At 80 years old, goes to the gym three times a week for aquafit, early in the morning. She manages to care for an ill husband, keep a clean house, and still take care of herself. She’s an amazing cook yet manages to eat healthily and maintain her weight loss (which she achieved about 4 years back).

4. How did their lesson change your life?

Grandma has taught me that no matter what curve-ball life throws at you, keeping a cheery and positive attitude and taking care of those whom you love will make you happy. She’s also reinforced the thought that you’re never too old to change, and you’re never too old to get active.

5. Do you convey their message to kids in your life presently?

Yes, in an indirect way, I am active with my children, and thus set an example for a healthy lifestyle. I also teach toddler active games classes, and, as such, convey the message of healthy (and FUN!) physical activity for life.

6. What would be your main message to children today to lead healthy lifestyles?

Find something active that you LOVE to do, and do it always. If you’re not having fun doing it, then do something else!

7. Do you have a web site you would like to promote….web address only?
