The approach of a new year has many plotting positive change in their lives. According to USA.gov some of the top New Year’s Resolutions include “losing weight, eating healthy food and getting fit.”

In terms of losing weight, The National Institutes of Health advised, “The key to successful weight loss is making changes in your eating and physical activity habits that you can keep up for the rest of your life.”

According to Forbes.com, “research has found that people who make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t explicitly make resolutions.”

Margie Warrell said in the article, “When your resolutions connect to a deeper sense of purpose, it compels you not to think small or play safe, but to dig deep and stay the course when the going gets tough – no matter how many hurdles.”

For example, I always tell my clients that the aesthetic appearance of their hard work is just part of the reward when losing weight. The true goal should be feeling better, having more stamina to play with their kids or grandkids and above all living longer.

I truly believe that if your New Year’s resolution is health-related, you need to be around those who are healthy. If you continue to surround yourself with those who are resistant to change and do not want to adopt a healthy lifestyle, chances are you’ll give in to their lifestyle.
