Sean Vigue

As part of my new web series, The Role Model In You, here is my most recent interview. The Role Model In You series discusses how individuals were influenced as a child to lead a healthy lifestyle. It covers who influenced these individuals, the changes they made in their life to be healthy, and the message they would like to convey to the youth of today. Our guests include doctors, soccer stars, Super Bowl champions, NBA players, Olympic gold medalist, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and just regular people looking to share their story. I hope you enjoy it!

1. Your name, title, and age? What do you do (or did you do) for a living?

Sean Vigue, Master Core Specialist, 37, Yoga and Pilates instructor

2. Who was the person that inspired you as a child to eat healthy and stay fit? What was their relationship to you?

My family always ate pretty healthy and I got hooked on salads at a young age. We also were only allowed sweet cereal no more than twice a year. So getting a big box of Froot Loops was a real treat 🙂

3. What did they do to inspire you?

My parents are very active – my mom walks everyday and my dad loves to work outside. I used to spend my Summers in southern California doing work with my dad on properties and oil wells, so I would run around them and play to avoid work. We were also 1 block from the beach so boogie boarding was a must.

4. How did their lesson change your life?

They set a standard which inspired me to be thankful for my mind and body and keep them strong. Pilates and Yoga are a wonderful way to strengthen them both.

5. Do you convey their message to kids in your life presently?

Of course! I’ve taught a lot of yoga and Pilates to kids and make sure to bend their ears about why they need health and fitness in their lives. “Stressed-out children grow-up to be stressed-out adults.”

6. What would be your main message to children today to lead healthy lifestyles?

Go out and play! I would be out for hours playing (football, biking, running, jumping, leaping, etc) and it was always a magical time. If you don’t come home every night with grass stains on your knees what’s the point? Also, turn off the video games; they’re not real life.

7. Do you have a web site you would like to promote….web address only?
