Role Model
Jim Dailakis

As part of my new web series, The Role Model In You, here is my most recent interview. The Role Model In You series discusses how individuals were influenced as a child to lead a healthy lifestyle. It covers who influenced these individuals, the changes they made in their life to be healthy, and the message they would like to convey to the youth of today. Our guests include doctors, soccer stars, Super Bowl champions, NBA players, Olympic gold medalist, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and just regular people looking to share their story. I hope you enjoy it!

1. Your name, title, and age? What do you do (or did you do) for a living?

Jim Dailakis. 42. Actor/comedian/writer. I’m a standup comedian performing worldwide.

2. Who was the person that inspired you as a child to eat healthy and stay fit? What was their relationship to you?

Other than my parents, Bruce Lee was the greatest influence. Rocky Balboa and Sylvester Stallone also played a part in inspiring me to stay fit and healthy.

3. What did they do to inspire you?

Because of Bruce Lee, I was always working out, I studied martial arts and
adopted all their wonderful disciplines and lifestyle. To this day, I still live by that example and it has helped me achieve goals that were once considered fantasies. I learned that just about anything is possible if you apply yourself spiritually, physically and mentally.

4. How did their lesson change your life?

Their lessons changed my life dramatically. As a child, I was always weak, sickly and bullied. When I saw Bruce Lee for the first time, I was inspired beyond belief. I transformed myself into a lean, mean, healthy and incredibly strong machine. I’ve never
tried drugs, never been drunk and always stayed on the straight and narrow.

5. Do you convey their message to kids in your life presently?

I would teach them the same principles and philosophies I learned from Bruce Lee. I also inspired my nephew to become fit and healthy. I proudly showed him the ropes in the gym.

6. What would be your main message to children today to lead healthy lifestyles?

To never give in to peer pressure when negative aspects are involved. To avoid toxic people and/or situations. Getting drunk isn’t cool and neither is smoking. Sometimes, I admit it’s pretty difficult because kids will usually think that they’re right and I’m just an old fuddy-duddy.

7. Do you have a web site you would like to promote….web address only?
