Carrie Carroll

As part of my new web series, The Role Model In You, here is my most recent interview. The Role Model In You series discusses how individuals were influenced as a child to lead a healthy lifestyle. It covers who influenced these individuals, the changes they made in their life to be healthy, and the message they would like to convey to the youth of today. Our guests include doctors, soccer stars, Super Bowl champions, NBA players, Olympic gold medalist, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and just regular people looking to share their story. I hope you enjoy it!

1. Your name, title, and age? What do you do (or did you do) for a living?

Carrie Carroll, Founder of The Twin Source, LLC, Age:35

2. Who was the person that inspired you as a child to eat healthy and stay fit? What was their relationship to you?

My father inspired me to eat healthy and stay fit.

3. What did they do to inspire you?

My Dad is a retired fighter pilot so when I was young being fit was a requirement of his job. He inspired me by always taking care of himself and exercising but even more so involving my sister and I in exercise at an early age. Before we could ride a bike we were on the back of his and my mother’s biking every weekend or going on long walks. As we got older we rode along on 20+ mile bike rides each weekend or hiked and in the winter cross country skied, exercise was a part of our family lifestyle.

4. How did their lesson change your life?

I think the biggest lesson learned was viewing exercise as a necessity rather than a chore. As something that was good for us, and also it was a way for us to have time together as a family doing something as a unit.

5. Do you convey their message to kids in your life presently?

Absolutely, my twins are young, only 2, but my husband and I have tried to instill the importance of exercise in them at an early age. My husband and I are both runners and since they were just a few months old we have taken the twins on runs with us. My husband always pushes the stroller and I run in the lead. It has become something we very much enjoy, we have run in a few races with them which is also fantastic.

6. What would be your main message to children today to lead healthy lifestyles?

Leading a healthy lifestyle and staying fit is simply part of taking care of yourself so that you can be the best you and strongest you. There are so many types of exercise today that you can find something that is fun and enjoyable to you so that you look forward to the activity rather than dread it. For healthy eating, take pride in what you eat because as cliche as it sounds, you are what you eat and it’s important that you nourish yourself in a good way.

7. Do you have a web site you would like to promote….web address only?
