Welcome to the category of my blog simply called ‘Healthy Tips.’ Many times, when I write articles for various publications, I need to find sources for the story as seen in Yahoo Shine (click here) or PBS (click here) about staying healthy. I was looking for experts and non-experts to chime in and give their favorite ‘tips’ to help kids and adults lead a healthy lifestyle.

The feedback for various stories was amazing. The sources had some fantastic points of view that could not be ignored, and I thought their opinions should be viewed on the Your Health Journal web site.

So, enjoy my new series, with some ‘great’ insight from some ‘great’ people giving exceptional and educational points of view.

The importance of families exercising together

Exercising with your children equals not only a happy and healthier family, but helps with bonding and accountability. You can’t preach working out with your kids if you are not leading by example. Plus it is a great way to get to enjoy all of the family members favorite exercises. We need to spend more time off the couch and on our feet, and it allows you to get involved in what your children are doing during the day.

Suggestions / creative ideas to get families to exercise together

Set up a schedule, each week, just like a sport you can block off time to go walking, take a class, swim. Whatever it may be. You can also make a game out or it where maybe you track exercise points and the winner gets to pick the next activity and time/place it’s done.

Reasons why families are not exercising together as much in our modern day era.

We have no time, we now need to have parents that work, long ours to meet financial responsibilities, we are also and lets be honest a lazier society. We should not only spend time moving, but cooking and instilling good healthy lifestyle habits. There are not enough well explained , easy to attain guidelines for families to follow. Most topics on new and health are short filled with info that you can’t relate to or make little sense of. One way to a healthy family is to spend time with them.
