1. Your name, title, and age? What do you do (or did you do) for a living?
Scott Fishman, Fitness Pro and Founder of Team All-American. I am turning 30 next month.
2. Who was the person that inspired you as a child to eat healthy and stay fit? What was their relationship to you?
My mother is one of the many people who inspired me to stay fit and eat healthy.
3. What did they do to inspire you?
She lead by example and was one of the original members at Equinox. Her actions spoke louder than words. My mom also always encouraged me to go after my dreams. She always believed in me. Almonds were usually in a bowl on a counter in the kitchen. Dark berries filled our fridge.
4. How did their lesson change your life?
Mom planted a seed. As I grew up, I had to make decisions for myself but her early influence did play a pivotal role. Today I own a fitness company in New York City and share with our athletes many of the same lessons I often learned growing up in a house with a mother that embraced healthy eating. I studied Exercise Sports Science in college, hold a number of fitness and nutrition certifications, and regularly read the latest health books and sports science study findings. I live and breathe this stuff. I also workout every day, running a marathon in two weeks, and drink green juice daily. And I am one of the few 29 year olds who does not drink alcohol or smoke.
5. Do you convey their message to kids in your life presently?
Yes, I work with youth athletes. I find that leading by example works well.
6. What would be your main message to children today to lead healthy lifestyles?
Living a healthy lifestyle makes everything better. And for all of the competitive athletes with dreams of playing high school, college or professional sports, a healthy lifestyle is even more important in today’s ultra competitive sports environment. Almost all of the elite athletes that I train will say the same thing.
7. Do you have a web site you would like to promote….web address only?
