The Health And Well-being Benefits Of Modern Rhinoplasty

newsRhinoplasty is not just used for increasing your aesthetic appearance. Rhinoplasty can help with a wide variety of health problems and can be used to increase personal well-being. You should always go to a reputable practice. We spoke with Sam Becker, who runs The Rhinoplasty Center based in Philadelphia to outline some of the health benefits that this procedure can have.

Alleviating respiratory sleep problems

Many sleep problems can be linked to breathing issues such as sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a potentially dangerous condition in which sufferers stop breathing in the middle of sleep. The condition may lead to heart problems, and, when it is severe, it may increase the risk of stroke and cancer.

This is important because sleep apnea often stems from an underlying physiological problem, which, in some cases, stems from a malformed or misshapen nose. In these cases, getting rhinoplasty may significantly alleviate, if not cure, the underlying cause of the sleep apnea, as changes may be made to the size and shape of the nose, thus facilitating easier breathing.

Correcting injuries stemming from sports or accidents

A number of people suffer with body image issues as a result of damage done while playing sports or being involved in an accident, as nose injuries are common. A broken or fractured nose can seriously affect the appearance of the nose, as well as cause respiratory problems that may not have existed previously.

Getting rhinoplasty can remedy both the aesthetic and health-related consequences of a nose injury, which will boost feelings of confidence and well-being.

Increasing self-esteem and feelings of psychological well-being

Many people don’t understand the extent to which unhappiness with facial features can lead to feelings of diminished psychological and emotional well-being. If looking in the mirror causes someone unhappiness to the point of withdrawing from work or social activities, it may be time to consider examining the cause and exploring solutions that will enhance feelings of happiness and self-esteem. The nose is a very common source of unhappiness for a number of people, making rhinoplasty instrumental in solving longstanding problems.

How To Improve Wellbeing

healthywordsWellbeing refers to healthy, sustainable personality characteristics that are associated with health, happiness, and flourishing. However, health is not a prerequisite for wellbeing, nor is external circumstances. This article describes evidence-based practices that can be adopted in order to cultivate wellbeing. The practices recommended herein mimic the behavior of people who naturally seem to live with a high level of wellbeing. By living the way people with wellbeing live, it is possible for the rest of us to increase wellbeing.

Pleasant thoughts create pleasant emotional states and unpleasant thoughts create unpleasant emotional states. The reverse is also true, in that, when we experience unpleasant emotional states, the brain is more likely to generate unpleasant thoughts.

The reason this is important is because unpleasant thoughts and feelings have harmful physiological effects. Here is how the process works: Unpleasant thoughts create emotional distress, and emotional distress creates physiological stress. Chronic physiological stress contributes to disease.

When these unpleasant mind states are fleeting, we fully recover from them without any long-term adverse effects. However, chronic anger, frustration, feelings of helplessness or hopelessness, and most other chronically experienced unpleasant states of mind contribute to illness. In that way, unpleasant thoughts are also unhealthy thoughts.

One of the most effective methods to increase wellbeing is to learn to think in healthier ways. I do not recommend trying to replace unpleasant (unhealthy) thoughts with pleasant ones (thought replacement). There are actually several methods for working with unhealthy thoughts. The most common one is referred to as cognitive restructuring, which involves coming up with evidence to dispute unhealthy thoughts. This is more effective than thought replacement but less effective than mindfulness.

Mindfulness practice is now becoming the most evidence-based method for working with unhealthy thoughts. Mindfulness practice sidesteps the problems that are sometimes encountered in trying to use thought substitution or even thought disputation. In mindfulness practice, instead of denying, resisting, trying to replace or dispute our inner experience, we make peace with all our thoughts and feelings.

Examples of unhealthy thoughts include holding grudges, resentment, animosity, bitterness, hatred, and ill will. These states of mind create emotional distress, which causes physiological stress. For that reason, and the fact that those mind states create interpersonal hostility, it is important to find a way to disentangle from such negative thinking. By learning to view our thoughts as just insubstantial brain secretions, we can avoid the emotional distress before it eventuates to physiological stress, or to hostile or other unhealthy behavior.

We act on our thoughts when we lack the awareness that our thoughts are nothing but insubstantial mental constructs. Mindfulness training provides a path out of cognitive fusion or entanglement. Senior mindfulness teacher Jack Kornfield has said: The mind secretes thoughts the way the salivary glands secrete saliva.

brainthinkingAnother way to increase wellbeing involves the imagination. It’s easy to imagine how strong, recurrent feelings of guilt, shame, and self-denigration cause emotional distress and physiological stress. For this reason, it is important to learn how to use that same imagination to practice self-forgiveness, self-compassion, and self-acceptance.

Another contributor to wellbeing is the level of connection and belonging we share with others. Closely related to this is a sense that we are contributing to the welfare of not just our family, but to strangers as well. Throughout the day, ask: Does my behavior contribute in any way to the suffering of others or myself? This question serves as a mind-training practice to help us to live in full contact with the present moment, to be fully awake to our impact on those around us, and to live in a healthy, open-hearted state of mind.

Lastly, throughout the day, ask yourself if your behavior is aligned with your personal life values.

Different Ways To Care For Your Mental Well-being

womanWe all experience stress in different ways. While some people let their worries boil over until they affect the way they behave with their friends and family, others find their anxiety affects their health, giving them stomach problems, difficulty in sleeping at night and causing tension in different parts of the body like the back, shoulders and neck.

It makes sense therefore, that we all have different ways of dealing with stress and improving our mental well-being. For some people, there’s nothing better than a bike ride home or a gym workout at the end of the day to make all your work worries melt away and leave you re-energized and ready for a relaxing evening with your family.

Others like to write all their concerns down and approach each issue one at a time, working through their worry list until a solution has been found for all of them.

Talking really helps some people, whether it’s to a good friend or family member, of to a professional counselor or therapist.

One alternative way of approaching your problems is to have a psychic reading. This may not be something you have considered as it may feel a little too lateral to help with real life issues, but in fact, it’s become a popular way of getting a fresh perspective on one’s own life – helpful in allowing you to see the bigger picture and decide which way to move forward.

It’s very easy to find readers of all types via the internet – whether you would like a tarot card reading, an astrological chart drawn up, or to have a reading with a medium or clairvoyant. If you have never had a reading before, it may be best to book a session either with someone who has been personally recommended to you or to go through an association or group of readers so that you know that they have been vetted for their psychic reading skills.

Tarot card readings can be an excellent tool for analyzing your current situation, looking back at events in the past and seeing how your circumstances might be perceived by others.

An obvious time to try a psychic reading is when you are dealing with the loss of a friend or relative. Whether you believe in the afterlife or not, having a reading with a psychic or medium can be an emotional experience. The medium is there to make contact with spirits of those who have already died and to act as a link between their client and the spirit. A quality psychic will not promise to be able to reach a specific person’s spirit on your behalf, but they will try to do so if you make a request.

Tarot card readings can be an excellent tool for analyzing your current situation, looking back at events in the past and seeing how your circumstances might be perceived by others. This helps you to see your life and the decisions you have made in a fresh context. A tarot reader will not tell you what to do or what decisions to make, but will instead give you the information you need to make these decisions for yourself.

Many people scoff at the idea of psychic readings but if you’re looking for some solutions to stress and anxiety, it may be that this really helps you. Rather than putting a lid on your anxieties, it’s better to try a different way of finding a solution.

– Gerry Toms first had a psychic reading done when he was going through a divorce and found that the different way of analyzing his life situation really helped him. He now has regular readings at the beginning of every year. He recommends that people having their first tarot reading take a look at tables for tarot cards meaning beforehand so that they are prepared for how the reading will be structured. He also suggests that you should do your research to find a quality psychic before booking a session.
