Role Model
Steve Langerud

As part of my new web series, The Role Model In You, here is my most recent interview. The Role Model In You series discusses how individuals were influenced as a child to lead a healthy lifestyle. It covers who influenced these individuals, the changes they made in their life to be healthy, and the message they would like to convey to the youth of today. Our guests include doctors, soccer stars, Super Bowl champions, NBA players, Olympic gold medalist, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and just regular people looking to share their story. I hope you enjoy it!

1. Your name, title, and age? What do you do (or did you do) for a living?

Steve Langerud, Workplace Consultant, 53 yrs old

2. Who was the person that inspired you as a child to eat healthy and stay fit? What was their relationship to you?

My mother and grandparents.

3. What did they do to inspire you?

They lived from their garden and farm buying only the most basic staples at a store. It was very interesting to me as a young person to watch them grow and preserve their own food to last all year. They worked hard to live. But they were healthy people connected to the land.

4. How did their lesson change your life?

I have always appreciated that connection to the land. My mother, continues this health lifestyle today with a large garden, healthy diet, and working outdoors. It reinforces that working outdoors is a natural and healthy exercise and lifestyle.

5. Do you convey their message to kids in your life presently?

I work with young people every day and speak about the ways we can craft lives of meaning, significance and service. It is about our choices of how to live and work. How we integrate our personal and professional lives.

6. What would be your main message to children today to lead healthy lifestyles?

Be aware that happiness and health are skills you develop. Be aware of what you put in your body and make every decision a choice you make conciously. Be aware that you are in control.

7. Do you have a web site you would like to promote….web address only?

I have a website, but this is a cool thing you are doing so I choose to leave it out. But thanks. Steve
