As part of my new web series, The Role Model In You, here is my most recent interview. The Role Model In You series discusses how individuals were influenced as a child to lead a healthy lifestyle. It covers who influenced these individuals, the changes they made in their life to be healthy, and the message they would like to convey to the youth of today. Our guests include doctors, soccer stars, Super Bowl champions, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and just regular people looking to share their story. I hope you enjoy it!

1. Your name, title, and age? What do you do (or did you do) for a living?

Scarlet Paolicchi, Blogger, 36. I used to be a retail store manager but I became a stay at home mother then started blogging.

2. Who was the person that inspired you as a child to eat healthy and stay fit? What was their relationship to you?

My mother always inspired me to eat healthy and stay fit. She did so by example. She knows more about health than anyone I know. She was always reading and sharing information with me on what was healthy and why. She always bought and cooked healthy food. She liked to exercise and she encouraged me to get outside and play. As a child, I sometimes felt upset that I couldn’t watch more TV and eat more candy but I appreciate that now!

3. What did they do to inspire you?

My mother inspired me to be a good mom. I knew that I wanted to give my children as much love and attention as I got when I was little. I knew that I wanted to be a stay at home mom and fix meals for my kids and bring them to play at the playground and include them in cooking and cleaning. I am loving being with my kids and I hope I am inspiring healthy choices through the habit of life just like my mom did.

4. How did their lesson change your life?

My mom’s interest in health and natural remedies and the outdoors has given me a love those same things. I think the lessons my mother taught me have changed my life by making me a happy person who wants to give that gift to my kids. It also inspired a love of nature and this translates into a lot of eco-friendly inspiration in my blogging as well as organic parenting tips.

5. Do you convey their message to kids in your life presently?

I do hope that my kids are learning some of the same values and I know they are when I see my daughter being so careful to recycle. I know that some messages are harder to convey and will always need reinforcement such as staying away from too many sweets!

6. What would be your main message to children today to lead healthy lifestyles?

Get outside and play and develop a love of nature. My kids love it when I get outside with them and help them learn about all the things they encounter, turtles, salamanders, bugs, and plants. I would also say try to avoid ready made foods and substitute things in their natural whole forms- nuts and fruit are ready just the way they are and so much healthier!

7. Do you have a web site you would like to promote….web address only?
