* Arms and legs should be protected by loose-fitting cotton clothing

Instances of heat-related illness, such as heat cramping, heat exhaustion and heat stroke, increase as the temperature rises. Some populations – infants, young children, the elderly, and people with heart disease or high blood pressure – are particularly susceptible to the effects of summer heat. Whether it is a sunburn or heat-related illnesses, if left unaddressed, it can become more serious. Heat stroke is particularly dangerous because it requires immediate emergency medical attention.
