Healthy Tip #124

Welcome to the category of my blog simply called ‘Healthy Tips.’ Many times, when I write articles for various publications, I need to find sources for the story as seen in Yahoo Shine (click here) or PBS (click here) about staying healthy. I was looking for experts and non-experts to chime in and give their favorite ‘tips’ to help kids and adults lead a healthy lifestyle.

The feedback for various stories was amazing. The sources had some fantastic points of view that could not be ignored, and I thought their opinions should be viewed on the Your Health Journal web site.

So, enjoy my new series, with some ‘great’ insight from some ‘great’ people giving exceptional and educational points of view.

Healthy Tip From Deb Boulanger

Tip #1:
SImply ‘add in’ to ‘crowd out.’ Add in nutritious foods like greens and fresh fruits to your normal meals and snacks. Make 1/2 of your plate vegetables and STILL eat the foods you love. You will naturally add in healthier, high-mileage foods and ‘crowd out’ less healthy foods. The great thing about this approach is there are no rules about food. When fruitswhitewe have rules, we tend to break them. Ease yourself into the new year in a kinder, gentler way and see how energy and alertness improve and pounds begin to slowly shed.

Tip#2:
Sip warm water all day to aid in hydration and increase your feeling of ‘fullness.’ Adding lemon, ginger and honey increase alkalinity in the body, act as a mild diuretic, aids digestion and boosts metabolism. Honey is an immunity builder and adds a natural sweetness.
